Domitilla (also known as Domitilla: The Reboot) is a 2023 Nigerian action, crime, and thriller film directed by Sonny McDon. The movie updates the classic 1996 Nollywood movie for a contemporary audience. Produced by Zeb Ejiro (the producer of the original film), FilmOne Entertainment, and Film Trybe, and directed by Kayode Kasum and Zeb Ejiro, the film was released in Nigerian cinemas on April 7, 2023.
Synopsis: The movie focuses on the lives of four young women who find themselves at a crossroads, forced to work as prostitutes to survive in Lagos, a bustling and challenging city. The story delves into the choices they make and the effects of those choices within an “evil empire” of prostitution run by a character named Madam Vee.
Unlike the original film, where the main character, Domitilla, becomes a suspect in a politician’s murder, the reboot changes the storyline significantly. It aims to portray the raw and real effects of prostitution and the societal challenges that are still relevant today, with the women having to “join forces” in a tale of survival.
